Best Super Bowl Ads of 2021

SuperBowl.jpg

Celebrities, remastered songs, current events – all were tactics used during this year’s Super Bowl commercials. Between conversations and chowing down on your favorite Super Bowl appetizers, you may have missed some ads that could actually benefit your business. No worries, we rounded up 5 of our favorite B2B focused ads that could be game changers.

SquareSpace 5 to 9

Working 5 to 9, what a way to make a living. No, that’s not a typo but rather SquareSpace’s ode to side hustlers working after hours on their dream business. The toe tapping commercial features a new rendition of Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and positions Squarespace, a website hosting platform, as a driving tool that turns passions into professions. It gave an old classic a timely refresh with the help of Dolly herself. If you have a “5 to 9” you will 10 out of 10 relate.

Fiverr Four Seasons

“Success…it’s often right place, right time.” If you thought the set in this Fiverr ad looked familiar, perhaps you recognized it from Rudy Giuliani’s press conference late last year when they accidentally booked it at the Four Seasons Landscaping Company rather than the famous hotel chain. Fiverr, an online marketplace for freelance services, utilized the landscape company to demonstrate how having the right people on your team can help capitalize on these rare moments that can turn into PR gold. While we’re not huge fans of Fiverr’s “ultra cheap design philosophy”, there’s no denying the powerful relevance and timeliness of this spot.

Reddit

This was probably the most missed Super Bowl ad of the year. Reddit reserved a 5 second time slot of an image with the hopes that viewers would put down the queso dip and pause the TV to read it. If successful, viewers would learn how Reddit can be used to share knowledge, ideas and innovations. We’ve seen businesses gain momentum by just becoming a topic of conversation on a thread. For a commercial that was only 5 seconds long and made in only a few days, it is one of the most talked about ads of the game. Well played, Reddit, well played.

Klarna

What’s better than one Maya Rudolph? How about four… Klarna’s Super Bowl ad featured four Maya Rudolphs in the wild west that worked together to make four equal payments (using Klarna of course) to purchase a new pair of boots. The ad didn’t trigger the same belly laughter as others did, but it was memorable. Klarna is becoming more popular on e-commerce sites as it gives shoppers more flexible ways to shop. It might be something to consider if your shoppers need more encouragement during the checkout phase.

Dr. Squatch

OK, so this one was a personal favorite of mine. Sticking with the theme of unexpected and quirky, this Dr. Squatch ad hit all the right notes. Weird, humorous, low budget yet completely engaging and a sheer joy to watch. This is the perfect example of how a relatively unknown brand can successfully announce itself in the increasingly crowded market segment of mens health. No one had heard of them, now they’re the talk at the virtual water cooler.
